The Hanson Hills Snow Sports School offers a variety of instructional programs that will help you learn to ski or simply make your skiing experience easier and more enjoyable. From learning the basics of turning and stopping; to taking on the challenge of the terrain park; or shaving seconds off your time in the race course, the snow pros at Hanson Hills can teach ski lessons to help you improve your skills and gain confidence on the slopes no matter what your age or skill.

SESSION TUBING IS BACK!

Tubing at its finest is what you will find at Hanson Hills Recreation Area. Adjacent to our ski slopes, this fun filled activity is perfect for children and adults alike. Take an exhilarating ride down the slopes on a tube where you will end up at the base of the hill right next to the tow rope where you will be towed back to the top to do it again! After your one hour session, we guarantee you will be hooked!

In the winter of 1974, Bob Frye opened a small cross country ski rental operation out of the shed of a Higgins Lake snowmobile repair shop. Hanson Hills offers over 35KM of wooded rolling terrain that is groomed daily 14’ wide with set track to accommodate both classical and skating styles.

The 2017 Cote Dame Marie Loppet is presented by The Grayling Recreation Authority.

This exciting Nordic Skiing Adventure will take you through the scenic hardwood trails of Hanson Hills Recreation Area, located in Grayling, Michigan.

Rolling Course with outstanding grooming

Professional Timing to ensure immediate and accurate results.

Michigan Cup Men’s Division-26km freestyle, and Women’s -13km freestyle Michigan Cup points events.

Free Saturday Afternoon Night Kids Race- 1-3km 1pm-2:00pm @ Northbound Outfitters.

Citizens Divisions-For those new to skiing, a 7.5 km course with both Skate and Classic categories. “Fun for All!!”

What’s New This Year for the Cross Country Ski Trails at Hanson Hills

We are pleased to announce a few exciting changes to our Nordic Operations for the 2017-18 Season.

1.CLASSIC ONLY- We have added 5 kilometers to our Wilderness Trail making it a looped classic only adventure trail. With fun section names including Wanderlust, PB&J, Sunset Ridge and the soon to be famous Buck Snort!

2. SHORTCUT – We have opened a Service trail that could serve as a shortcut between the Red and the Green Trail to help our groomer/ski patrollers easily navigate trails without having to ride the whole system.

3. IN MEMORY OF –There will be a newer waxing bench added to our main lodge, the bench was donated from Michael Seaman’s Trust, this was his personal bench, that he prepped many ski’s on! We are honored to have this in memory of Mike and we hope you remember his athletic spirit as you prep your skis! We will also have envelopes for Mike’s Scholarship fund available in the lodge for all those who wish to donate!

4. GROOMER LOVE- We are adding an additional Bear Cat Groomer Special to our grooming fleet!

5. GOING THE DISTANCE- You will notice on our redesigned maps, point to point distances between colors!! Look for a new Trail Head (Coming Soon) signboard as well!

Join us for a 5K fun run along the Manitou Ski Trail! All proceeds go to the Roscommon High School Cross Country Running Team.

Cross Country Ski Headquarters – Pre-Season Sale! – Sept. 5 – Nov. 3

We are open when we’re at the shop getting ready for our official season opening on Saturday, November 4th (we are there most weekdays throughout September and October), but you should call 800-832-2663 to make sure we’re there when you want to come shop.

Usually you can call the day of and we’ll be able to meet you at the shop, but at least a day’s notice is always helpful.

All of our skis and clothing are on sale, and you will get all the personal shopping help and ski sales assistance you need.

We can also take phone orders, and you may shop online at www.CrossCountrySki.com

Cross Country Ski Headquarters – Bob Frye Inducted to Michigan Ski Hall of Fame!

We are honored to announce that Bob Frye, after 42 years in the cross country skiing industry, has been inducted to the Michigan Ski Hall of Fame!

The induction took place on Monday, August 22nd, at the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association annual meeting and dinner. Bob, founder of Cross Country Ski Headquarters, was honored for his “major contributions in areas of organization, promotion, or development of the skiing industry in Michigan.”

During his acceptance speech, Bob thanked all the people who have believed in the mission of Cross Country Ski Headquarters: help people have fun on the snow. He made a special thanks to his wife, Lynne, who joined him early on in the business, and without whom XC Ski HQ would not be what it is today. The ceremony was attended by many members of the Michigan and Midwest ski industry, as well as Lynne, his children, and other family members. Cash Bash BYOP Doubles Cash Bash @ Hanson Hills Recreation Area – Presented by the Hanson Hills Disc Golf Club. Fundraiser for Hanson Hills Disc Golf Club.

2 Rounds of bring your own partner best shot doubles!
1st Round 24 Holes PDGA Course (Hill Course)
2nd Round 18 Holes Pine Knoll Course (Mixed Pin placement)

$70 OPEN Division; 70 percent Cash payout and $400 guaranteed Added Cash (possibly more with tentative sponsorship).

$60 Advanced Division(Individual Player ratings not to exceed 969) will have a 25 percent Cash Payout and 25 percent in Disc prizes.

$50 Recreation Division (Individual Player ratings not to exceed 899) will have disc prizes.

We will be paying out top 1/3 places in each Division.

Cashless registration, just leave your names, PDGA # and division in the comments section. This is an unsanctioned event but we will follow PDGA rules and guidelines.

Prices are for the team.

Optional Ace Pool, 50/50 CTP, and 50/50 Long Putt. Also we will have Division Skins. More info will be announced soon.
