Cross Country Ski Headquarters – 27th Annual Junior Muffin Sprint Relay Race – March 3 , 2019
Due to the Blizzard Warning that went into effect this morning, we are postponing the Muffin Race to next Sunday, March 3rd. We believe it is in the best interest of all Muffin participants not to travel today, and are confident that conditions next Sunday will be much more agreeable for travel and racing. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to see you at HQ on March 3rd. Please call 800-832-2663 with any questions, and thank you for understanding.
Join us for the longest standing juniors race in Michigan! The Muffin Race celebrates the fun of youth skiing with a Junior Girls & Boys 6km Team Sprint Relay race. Inspired by the Gold Medal victory by Jessie Diggins and Kikkan Randall in the 2018 Olympics, this freestyle relay race will feature two skiers per relay team. Each skier will ski a total of 3 laps around a 2km course, handing off to their teammate between each lap, totaling 6 laps per team. Registration begins at 9am on Sunday, and we will shoot for a 10:30am start. This is a Michigan Cup Junior Race. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in the girls division, boys division, and coed division, and awards will also be given for best costumes! After the Sprint Relay race, we will have the Mini Muffin Races starting at approximately 11:30am.
Mini Muffin Races:
We will hold three Mini Muffin freestyle races: Ages 6 years and under, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. All racers 12 and under will be awarded a medal!
There is a $10 entry fee for Muffin Racers 13 and older, and it includes a Pig Roast Lunch. There is no entry fee for the Mini Muffin Racers.
The Pig Roast is $5 for anyone else who might be hungry too. All racers and family members who partake in the Pig Roast will also receive a complimentary 1-day XC SKI HQ facilities pass.
